The lure of satisfaction.

Yesterday I spend a lovely day in beautiful Zürich meeting with a new friend (http://stampfliturci.posterous.com/).  We spend the day discussing art, drinking coffee and exploring some of the sights around town.  Zürich is Switzerlands unofficial capital and has always been one of my favourite towns. A great place to hunt subjects with my camera, in and around the famed Bahnhofstrasse, one the worlds most expensive shopping street.  Here, the lure of capitalism and perceived satisfaction is ever present.

  The eyes that mock me sign the way
Whereto I pass at eve of day.

Grey way whose violet signals are
The trysting and the twining star.

Ah star of evil! star of pain!
Highhearted youth comes not again

Nor old heart’s wisdom yet to know
The signs that mock me as I go.

I dwell in the green mountain

Yesterday was a wonderful clear, but cold spring day in Switzerland.  I took the opportunity and went on a five hour hike.  Armed with my new camera, I  sought to capture the emotion of the day.

You ask me why I dwell in the green mountain;
I smile and make no reply for my heart is free of care.
As the peach-blossom flows down stream and is gone into the unknown,
I have a world apart that is not among men.
