I have been working with the Icarus myth for some time now and I have been attracted to the notion of the middle path in the story. This work explores the flight of Icarus.

For the past 10 months I have been exploring the myth of Icarus and how it relates to contemporary life. A starting point for my investigation has been Peter Bruegel the Elder’s painting ‘ Landscape with the fall of Icarus’ . It struck me that in his painting no one takes any notice of the event, Icarus falls and life around him continues, oblivious to the tragic event that had just occurred. This would be unthinkable in today’s news and information obsessed world. Part of my works looks at the desire to fly and the consequence of going beyond your limits.
